Ride with the Mounted Army
Honor the Warriors of Kai Province
The Takeda Clan Samurai Armor is a historically faithful reproduction honoring one of the most powerful and respected clans of the Sengoku Era. Formed in the 12th century, the Takeda rose to dominance under the fierce leadership of Takeda Shingen. By the mid-16th century, Shingen had subdued his rivals and established the Takeda Clan as a major force in Japan’s warring states period.
Known as the kiba gundan (騎馬軍団) or “mounted army,” the Takeda Clan revolutionized warfare by transforming traditional mounted archers into heavily armored yari (spear) cavalry. Their tactics earned them legendary status and fierce loyalty among their retainers. But as the clan expanded southwest, they overextended, ultimately clashing with the rising powers of Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu, whose forces would eventually bring about their downfall. The remaining Takeda became retainers of Tokugawa.
This Gashira Class armor set includes a Tosei Yokohagi Okegawa Ni-Mai Dō (two-section cuirass with horizontal plates) and a Hari-bachi Goshōzan Kabuto. The Takeda mon (clan crest) is proudly painted on the chest, the fukigaeshi (helmet ears), and even the included display box—showcasing the warrior’s allegiance in battle and in display.
Standard color selection honors Takeda tradition with a bold vermilion base and optional blue odoshi (lace). However, all elements are fully customizable, from helmet and face mask to paint scheme and suneate (shin guards), allowing you to craft a set worthy of your own warrior legacy.
