Description
Forge Your Identity in Armor as Bold as Your Spirit!
The Okegawa Iro-Iro Kachi Samurai Armor invites you to step into a legacy of individuality and bold expression. Handcrafted by our skilled katchû-shi (Japanese armor smith) at Iron Mountain Armory, this multi-colored suit of samurai armor was inspired by the vibrant transformations that took place in the late Sengoku Era (warring perieod).
As the chaos of constant warfare began to settle, samurai found new ways to distinguish themselves not only through valor, but through visual splendor. Breaking away from the austere, uniform palettes of the past, many warriors began to express their status, clan pride, and personal taste through richly colored armor. Thus, the “iro-iro” (multi-color) movement was born.
The foundation of this armor is the Tosei Byō-tōji Yokohagi Okegawa Dō, a two-section cuirass made with riveted horizontal lames and joined by a pin hinge. This practical design allowed for fast production and enhanced battlefield durability while offering the flexibility that evolving warfare demanded. Our version enhances this time honored structure with Kiritsuke Iyozane sode (simulated scale shoulder guards) and kusazuri (defensive skirt plating), echoing the aesthetics of elite samurai from the era.
The default color palette of this armor includes three striking suna (sand-textured) tones: Black Suna for the main armor, Brown Suna as a secondary tone, and Crimson Suna on the bottom plating. However, personalization is at the heart of the iro-iro spirit—use the Extra Options menu to select your preferred colors, helmet, mask, and shin guard styles.
Designed for those who want more than tradition—for those who want their armor to tell a story—this suit is perfect for martial arts demonstrations, cultural exhibits, samurai cosplay, or anyone beginning their warrior journey.
