Claim Your Legacy – Armor of the One-Eyed Dragon
Date Masamune was a legendary Daimyō (feudal lord), renowned for his sharp military strategies and unmatched presence during the late Sengoku (Warring States) and early Edo (Peaceful States) periods. Revered as the “Dokuganryū” (One-Eyed Dragon of Ōshu), Masamune’s legacy was amplified by his iconic crescent moon maedate (helmet crest) and his bold leadership in founding the powerful Sendai domain.
The gomai-dō (five-section cuirass), favored by the Date Clan, became known as the Yukinoshita-dō or “Sendai Dō” due to its prominence in the region Masamune founded. Based on the yokohagi-okegawa (horizontal tub-sided cuirass) design with ito-mono (long plate) lamination, this style provided both exceptional protection and a striking aesthetic—making it a popular choice among high-ranking samurai for its balance of strength, comfort, and customization.
Iron Mountain Armory’s senior katchû-shi (Japanese armor smiths) have meticulously recreated this historic armor using traditional crafting techniques. The armor features a 32-plate suji-bachi kabuto (laminated helmet), which can be customized in plate count or replaced with another style of kabuto to match your vision. The armor’s vibrant crescent maedate shines as a symbol of ambition and fearlessness.
