Description
Embrace the heritage of honor and identity with every display!
The ukezutsu is a square-shaped wooden tube used to mount the sashimono (samurai war banner) or identification flags when worn with samurai armor. Traditionally, the ukezutsu would slide through a bracket on the backside of the do (cuirass), called the Gattari, and then connect into either a receiver known as the machiuke (machi-uke) mounted on the lower back or a pillow-like pad called the makura (mak-ura), before being tied securely in place. The top of the ukezutsu is fitted with a brass cap called a Kuchi-Gane, which adds structural support to the opening and prevents cracking.
Iron Mountain Armory has faithfully reproduced this ukezutsu based on an original early Edo Era model, ensuring both authenticity and historical accuracy. The sashimono-dake no koto (bamboo banner pole) is designed to work seamlessly with the ukezutsu when mounted on a table base stand (sold separately) to complete your display setup.
