Embrace the art of meticulous craftsmanship and restore your armor’s glory!

Odoshi-Ge is the traditional lacing material used to connect the plates of samurai yoroi, ensuring both functionality and exquisite decoration. Essential for re-lacing armor for maintenance or to give your armor a fresh, renewed appearance, this cord was historically replaced frequently—sometimes daily after a campaign—and later, during the Edo Era, less often as warfare waned. Over time, UV exposure and everyday wear break down the fibers, making regular replacement crucial to preserve the gusoku’s pristine condition, a matter of honor and status for any samurai.

In addition to our standard natural silk-like cotton odoshi-ge, we also offer the unique Chidori Odoshi (Plover Cord). This multi-color cord features a distinctive chevron pattern reminiscent of a Japanese plover, adding a decorative flair when used as the mimi-ito (trim cord) along the edge of the armor plates. Due to its intricate weave and limited production, Chidori Odoshi is available in smaller lengths, typically 5 to 7 meters—sufficient for an entire suit of armor.

Iron Mountain Armory provides high-quality, natural, 10mm wide odoshi-ge in various colors and lengths. Whether you require a few meters for a pair of sode (shoulder guards) or up to 150 meters for a full suit, our lacing material meets your re-lacing needs. Order multiple quantities to match your specific lacing style—be it kebiki (closely spaced lacing) or sugake (simple hanging).

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Traditional Craftsmanship: Made to replicate historical lacing techniques for samurai armor maintenance and decoration.
  • Versatile Options: Available in standard natural silk-like cotton and the distinctive Chidori Odoshi (plover cord) with multi-color effects.
  • Customizable Lengths: Order by the meter to suit different parts of your armor—from 2-5 meters for sode, 2-10 meters for shikoro (neck guard), up to 50-150 meters for a full suit.
