Iki Ningyō (生人形) are traditional Japanese life-sized, lifelike mannequins dating back to the Edo era and popularized during the Meiji era, when samurai armor was retired from battle and showcased in shops, museums, and homes worldwide. Historically, these mannequins—whether consisting of just the head or a full body—were used to depict the appearance of samurai in their armor or traditional clothing, often capturing faces that ranged from realistic portraits of warriors to more playful, cartoon-like expressions with embellished almond-shaped eyes. Esteemed collections, including those at the Stibbert Museum in Italy, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, and the Royal Armories in England, proudly display examples of Iki Ningyō.

Iron Mountain Armory’s custom Iki Ningyō adjustable mannequin displays are crafted from a robust steel frame with hinged joints and then covered with 100% medical-grade silicone. This innovative construction makes our mannequins fully adjustable—capable of standing or sitting—and remarkably lifelike in look, feel, and weight. Fully articulated, they can be posed in virtually any position a living person can achieve. Our mannequins are not only more realistic than wax figures but also offer the versatility of interchangeable heads and the practicality of adjustable support, all at a competitive price compared to quality store mannequins.

You can further personalize your mannequin: add makeup to alter its look and coloring, or swap out the included realistic eyes and hair with ease. An optional heavy support stand is available for secure display, especially beneficial when showcasing antique samurai armor with an 80 to 104 cm chest size. Please note that extra support may be required depending on the weight or angle of the display, particularly when dressed with heavy items such as armor.

Shipping Information:
Please allow our special artisan at least 1 to 2 weeks for processing and handcrafting your custom Iki Ningyō. This item ships in an oversized box and independently of any other items you might order.

Please Read and Note Before Ordering:  This life like and fully adjustable mannequin will need support to stand on its own. Ordering it with the optional stand will also add 3 bolts to the bottom of each foot which then connect to the weighted stand. The feet will lock into place on the stand. As with all mannequin, some positions may compromise the balance of the mannequin so care or extra support should be considered especially if dressing it with weighted items, such as armor.  The fingers are steel cables and may not hold an item, such as a sword, very well, so extra support may need to be added.
