Description
Defend with Honor. Strike with Precision
Hachi-Gané is a traditional armored headband designed to offer protection, comfort, and distinction to the warrior who wears it. Based on original Sengoku Era (Warring States) designs, this high-quality reproduction features three karute-gane (square steel plates) linked together with kusari (chain links), forming a flexible yet formidable defense for the forehead. Sewn into a dual-layered hachimaki (head wrap) with light padding, it provides both historical authenticity and modern wearability.
Used by both samurai and likely shinobi (ninja), the hachigane was favored for its lightweight design, perfect for duels, travel, or battle scenarios where full kabuto (helmet) protection was not practical. Its protective function helped prevent cuts to the forehead—an injury that could blind a warrior with blood and leave them vulnerable to follow-up attacks. Over time, the hachigane evolved into a mark of prestige and personal style, often adorned with a clan mon (crest).
Iron Mountain Armory is proud to offer custom options for your Hachi-Gané, including material color and the ability to add a clan mon or your own logo to the center plate. Your selected mon will be engraved onto a brass disc and affixed to the headband for an additional fee. Simply reply to your confirmation email with your design file to personalize your gear.
