Forge Your Legacy with the Armor of the Arima
The Arima Clan Samurai Armor honors a remarkable warrior lineage descended from Fujiwara Sumitomo and founded by Arima Tsunezumi in the 12th century. Known for their cavalry and deep ties with Portuguese Christian missionaries, the Arima became one of the first Japanese clans to embrace foreign military tactics and weaponry. Their name—“Arima,” meaning “has horse”—is a direct nod to their fierce mounted warriors.
In the mid-16th century, the Arima received military support from Portuguese allies, including firearms and advanced weaponry, increasing their battlefield effectiveness. Though a relatively small clan, their loyalty and foreign alliances helped shape the final years of the Sengoku period. They ultimately aligned with Toyotomi Hideyoshi, playing a vital role in the unification of Japan. The Gashira samurai of the Arima Clan were hand-picked to lead their Kachi warriors and take direct commands from the Taisho in battle.
This suit of yoroi is handcrafted by senior katchû-shi using the traditional Tosei Byō-tōji Yokohagi Okegawa Dō—a two-piece cuirass made with riveted horizontal plating and joined with a pin hinge. It also features kiritsuke iyozane (simulated scale plating), sode (shoulder guards), and kusazari (defensive skirt). These armor elements were common in the later Sengoku period, offering a fine balance of flexibility and protection.
The Arima Clan preferred a suna (sand-textured) finish with black odoshi (lace), projecting both mystery and discipline. Iron Mountain Armory is honored to offer full customization, from paint colors and textures to lace patterns, helmet and mask styles, and shin guards. Make your suit stand out while preserving the integrity of its historical inspiration.

I purchased this armor in vermillion red, gashira option to be the center piece in our Japanese decorated home. For the price it is an amazing piece of functional art. We had it on the display box and now just purchased a mannequin which make the armor look even better. The armor is wearable as well. Although I would not wear it for martial arts purposes I will wear it for special events. I am very proud to have this beautiful reproduction samurai armor on display in my home and will pass it to my son when the time comes.
I am in love with my new armor. It looks amazing!
Very well made and the fit is great. Can’t wait to take it out to events.
While the product is excellent, I miscalculated sizing and the armor is ever so slightly too tight for comfort. The attachment cord of the waraji snapped during transport, which is not the fault of anyone and I would have preferred not seeing the glue on the inside parts.
Amazing quality .amazing armor .amazing customer services !!I do recommand !
