Description
Armor of the Shogunate
Wear the Legacy of Japan’s Longest Rule
The Tokugawa Clan Samurai Armor is a powerful tribute to one of Japan’s most influential ruling dynasties. Founded by a family that claimed descent from Emperor Seiwa, the Tokugawa Clan rose to power in the late Sengoku period, securing their position by 1567. Under the leadership of Tokugawa Ieyasu, they unified Japan and established a Shogunate that ruled for over 260 years—ushering in the peaceful Edo Period, also known as the Tokugawa Era.
This Gashira Class yoroi features a traditional Tosei Okegawa Ni-Mai Dō (two-section cuirass with horizontal plating joined by a pin hinge), favored for its durability and balanced weight distribution. The suit is expertly handcrafted by our senior katchû-shi (Japanese armor smiths) using traditional methods enhanced with modern tools. The armor offers extensive customization options to reflect your own legacy—choose from various kabuto (helmets), menpō (masks), suneate (shin guards), and finishes.
The standard finish includes brown suna paint (to simulate the traditional tetsu sabiji nuri) paired with black odoshi (lace). This stately color scheme reflects the Tokugawa’s authority, austerity, and commanding presence. However, we proudly offer full customization options including alternative paints, materials, and lace styles.
A tribute to both heritage and function, this Gashira armor set is full-sized, fully functional, and includes a yoroi bitsu (armor box) and stand—making it ideal for display, training, or reenactment.
