Description
Command Respect and Honor with the Attire of Elite Samurai!
The Kumi-Gashira Jinbaori is a distinguished samurai vest (陣羽織, surcoat) crafted for higher-ranking samurai who led troops into battle. Designed for both functionality and prestige, this Jinbaori provided protection against the elements while serving as a striking display of the warrior’s status, authority, and clan identity. Historically worn over armor, the Jinbaori became increasingly elaborate throughout the Sengoku period, incorporating intricate designs, fine materials, and meaningful motifs to reflect the wealth and aesthetic preferences of the samurai class.
The Kumi-Gashira Jinbaori is traditionally waist-length, sleeveless, and features a high, open collar extending down the front. Reinforced shoulder panels ensure the garment maintains its regal structure. Samurai commonly chose brocade, wool, cotton, or later silk for their Jinbaori, favoring durability for battle while allowing for elegant presentation during formal events. For those seeking additional protection, Iron Mountain Armory offers the option to add kikko (armored plating) to the shoulder sections, blending defense with style.
Iron Mountain Armory takes great pride in offering fully customizable Kumi-Gashira Jinbaori, allowing you to match your surcoat to any of our armor sets or design a unique piece to reflect your warrior spirit. Each vest is carefully handcrafted by our skilled seamstress, using traditional materials and time-honored techniques to ensure authenticity, durability, and historical accuracy.
