Honor the Spirit of the Last Samurai – Wear a Legacy of Valor

The Moritsugu Katsumoto Samurai Armor is a breathtaking, Daimyo Class masterpiece handcrafted with pride by the senior katchû-shi (Japanese armor smiths) of Iron Mountain Armory. Inspired by the powerful portrayal of Moritsugu Katsumoto by Ken Watanabe in the legendary film The Last Samurai, this armor is a tribute not only to cinema but also to the enduring spirit of the true samurai, Saigō Takamori.

Saigō Takamori, the real-life inspiration for Katsumoto, was one of the “Three Great Nobles” who championed the Meiji Restoration. Although he initially supported the transformation of Japan, he later rebelled against the new government’s systematic persecution of the samurai class. Leading the historic Satsuma Rebellion, Saigō Takamori became known as “The Last True Samurai” — a symbol of loyalty, dignity, and honor.

This spectacular samurai gusoku (matching armor set) features a bold 32-plate suji-bachi kabuto with so-fukurin (brass ridged edging), accented by intricate brass and copper inlays depicting bamboo and tiger motifs. The kiritsuke iyozane (simulated wide scale) and kiritsuke kozane (simulated narrow scale) plating are masterfully layered to create a breathtakingly elegant (cuirass) adorned with traditional fukurin (brass trim) on the edges.

Our Daimyo Class katchû-shi focus purely on premium quality, blending time-honored traditional techniques with modern refinements to create a regal armor set fit for any Daimyo or modern warrior of distinction. Standard options are pre-selected to replicate the exact design as shown, including the striking gold-accented pattern (please note: FB25 is now the recommended alternative to the unavailable original floral pattern).
