The Sashimono-Dake no Koto are traditional banner pole sets used by samurai to display their sashimono (war banner) during battle or on parade. This authentic bamboo pole set is crafted from four sections of bamboo fitted with metal couplers and a traditional swivel adapter, a design inspired by models from the late Sengoku and Edo eras. Engineered for ease of disassembly, the pole can be conveniently carried or packed into a yoroi bitsu (armor box) when not in use. Its segmented design also ensured that, if grabbed by an enemy, the banner could quickly break apart or be easily withdrawn from the ukezutsu (banner base).

Iron Mountain Armory has meticulously recreated the Sashimono-Dake no Koto after several original models dating back to the late 16th century. Each bamboo section is carefully selected, measured, cut, and treated, then paired with traditional metal fittings. To counter slight sagging under the weight of a banner, the edges were traditionally painted with urushi (Japanese lacquer) or wrapped in lacquered paper to support the edges and secure the coupler tubing. We use cloth tape to achieve a similar effect, ensuring easier maintenance and repair when needed. Each banner pole is designed to work with one of our standard sashimono (samurai war banner) displays. If you require a longer length or need the bamboo cut to fit a smaller banner, please include your specifications in your order comments, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
