Unleash the power of tradition with every secure knot!

The shinobi no o, also known as Kabuto No O, is the traditional cord used to fasten the kabuto to the warrior’s head, ensuring that the menpo (face armor) or chin is held securely in place. This versatile cord effortlessly slides through the loops of the kabuto or jingasa and can be tied in various configurations to suit the individual warrior’s needs. Traditionally, the cord is wrapped around the ore kugi (L-shaped post) on the menpo’s cheeks and then secured under the chin, effectively keeping the face armor firmly attached during battle.

Originally, the shinobi no o was a simple hemp rope. Over time, however, it became customary to wrap the cord with additional layers of hemp or silk to prevent chafing and add a refined embellishment to the samurai armor. Today, you have several customization options: choose a plain rope, one encased in a hemp or art. silk sleeve, or even a padded version for a softer feel. Whether upgrading your current kabuto setup or adding an extra cord to swap out as needed, this traditional accessory is designed for use with all types of kabuto and jingasa, whether reproduction or antique.

Our artisans craft each shinobi no o to precise dimensions—typically 1.5 cm in diameter by 200 cm in length—ensuring durability and comfort, and preserving the timeless legacy of samurai craftsmanship.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Traditional Design: Crafted using time-honored techniques with natural hemp, with optional silk or padded coverings for added comfort.
