Classic Sengoku Samurai Armor – Masterfully Handcrafted
The Yokohagi Okegawa Suso-tsuki Samurai Armor pays tribute to one of the most iconic designs that emerged in the late Sengoku period. This full-sized Gashira Class armor features the famed Ni-mai Dō (two-piece cuirass), a design favored for its durability and ease of use during intense battlefield encounters. The term Okegawa means “tub-sided,” describing the round, barrel-like shape of the dō. It provided exceptional coverage and strength against spear thrusts, arrows & musket rounds.
This style incorporates Yokohagi (horizontal lame rows) where each steel plate is riveted in overlapping formation across the body of the armor. As a Gashira Class suit, our senior katchû-shi (Japanese armor smiths) handcraft each set with premium attention to historical detail and quality.
The term Suso no ita refers to the lowermost lame—typically seen on the shikoro (neck guard), sode (shoulders), or tare (throat guard). It serves as both a functional and decorative finish, offering balance to the armor’s visual structure while protecting vulnerable points near the bottom edge of each section.
This suit includes your choice of colors, lace style, kabuto (helmet), menpō (face mask), and optional upgrades such as fukurin (copper trim). Whether for martial arts training, formal display, or historical reenactment, this armor offers the strength of tradition with customizable elegance.
