Description
The Red Army of Kai
Swift as the Wind, Immovable as the Mountain
The Takeda Clan, lords of Kai Province, reigned with power and precision for over 400 years, from the 12th through the 16th century. Known for their unrivaled cavalry and battlefield strategy, they rose to become one of the most feared clans of the Sengoku Jidai. With armor dyed in deep vermilion red, they earned the moniker The Red Army. Their iconic battle standard bore the timeless words: Fū-Rin-Ka-Zan – “Swift as the Wind, Silent as the Forest, Intrusive as Fire, and Immovable as the Mountain.”
Iron Mountain Armory proudly presents this affordable yet fully functional Kachi Class Takeda Clan Samurai Armor. This gusoku (matching armor set) is an ideal choice for Budo martial artists, re-enactors, LARP players, and anyone with a passion for Japanese culture and military history. It is handcrafted by our skilled apprentice Katchû-shi using traditional patterns and modern techniques to offer a faithful, customizable, and economical reproduction.
This full-sized set includes a robust Okegawa Dō (barrel chest armor), hachi zunari kabuto (helmet), sode (shoulder guards), and kusazuri (defensive skirt plating). The mon (clan crest) of the Takeda—emblazoned in gold—is proudly hand-painted onto the chest plate to honor the warrior legacy of Takeda Shingen himself.
Standard color theme includes deep red lacquer with black and crimson nylon odoshi (lace), replicating the battle colors of the Red Army. ALL I CAN SAY IS MY ARMOR IS FANTASTIC!
the armor its self is great, only issues i’ve had was one of the toggle straps busted off so had to make a small repair on one of the toggle straps for the sode, and my mempo mask doesnt have the hook thats shown in the picture that mempo masks suppose to have, other than that the armor is great, just paranoid to wear it since afraid of it getting damage
Thank you for your detailed review 🙂
As you know the kachi class suits are made with some more economical parts which as you see can sometimes need repair. Also as noted on the “Kachi Class VS Gashira Class” – Menpo section “HOOKS: Gashira Class Menpō will always come with Ori-Kugi hooks on either side. These are used to help secure the mask when the kabuto is tied in place on the head. Kachi Class Menpō are not guaranteed to come with these hooks.” This is a feature added by the apprentice armor maker if they are able to add them. Gashira, Taisho and Daimyo (respectfully) are more consistent in quality and details.
Please contact us directly for any support, if needed. Thank you again 🙂

I’ve read the books, seen the movies, played the games and now I have the armor!
