    Gusari (Chainmail) Styles

    Select the style of traditional Japanese samurai chainmail (gusari) used for your armor.

    Upgrade your Sō-gusari (standard Japanese butted mail) to Seiro-gusari, a more refined mail construction featuring reinforced oval connector double links. Found on higher grade armor, eiro-gusari offers greater durability at the joining points, helping the mail better resist opening and wear over time.


    Heat Tempering / Upgrade

    Select to Heat Temper your steel armor plates to add more toughness. Your armor will be heated to 700 degrees, making it more resilient and less likely to dent or break upon hard impacts. Best for Martial Arts Training, LARP & SCA Sports.

Description

Han Kote (gauntlets) are shorter versions of traditional Samurai Kote. They only covered the hand and lower part of the arm, instead of the full arm. The Han Kote allowed for greater maneuverability, as the elbow and shoulder were not restricted yet with less protection.

Armor such as Han Kote could be worn for self-defense when travelling, fitting comfortably with casual clothing. It is believed to have been used by shinobi (ninja), to provide defense without sacrificing their mobility. Han Kote became popular in the Edo Era, and are designed to be tied at the elbow or attached to an upper part of a sleeve or kikko armor.
