    Chest Circumference


    Chest Sizing

    This option changes the girth size of your Dō (chest armor). While inhaling deeply, have an assistant wrap the tape measure under your armpits around the largest part of your chest. In the back, you want the tape measure to wrap across your shoulder blades. The tape measure should be snug, but not tight.

    Waist Circumference


    Waist Size

    This option is for the waist circumference of the Dō (chest armor). 5: Place a tape measure on your navel (belly button) and straight around your waist, finishing at your navel. The tape measure should be snug, but not tight. Please Note: Sizing is for REFERENCE ONLY and may not reflect the final product. Please read the FAQs for more details.

Description

Maki Do Samurai Armor is crafted by our apprentice katchû-shi (Japanese armor smith) at Iron Mountain Armory. It features “Maki”, a traditional Japanese style of gold lacquer painting dating back to the Heian Era.  This particular yoroi (armor set) doesn’t use actual lacquer, but the simulated effect is similar. Our standard kachi samurai yoroi offer the additional option of painting a historic samurai clan mon. You can also request your own stylized design on this custom suit.   

This kachi samurai armor set features the “Tosei Yokohagi Okegawa Ni-Mai Do” (Two Section Cuirass with Horizontal Plating Joined by a Pin Hinge), a common armor style at the end of the Sengoku Era.  Your custom Makie Do will be crafted from overlapping individual metal strips (lames) that are smoothed over and then painted. The kabuto (helmet), menpo (mask) and suneate (shin guards), armor style can be changed upon your request via the Extra Options.  A display box with stand can also be added for an additional cost, to proudly display your yoroi set. Custom sizing and other options are available as well. This yoroi set is also available in the higher quality Gashira Class.
