Forge Your Legacy in the Footsteps of Saigō Takamori
The Satsuma Rebellion Taisho Yoroi is a powerful testament to the final, thunderous roar of the true samurai spirit. Handcrafted by the senior katchû-shi (Japanese armor smiths) of Iron Mountain Armory, this prestigious Taisho-class armor honors the defiant warriors of the Seinan War—men who chose the way of honor over surrender.
In 1877, under the legendary leadership of Saigō Takamori, the samurai of Satsuma rose against Japan’s new imperial government. Though modernized forces closed in, Saigō’s warriors refused to abandon the virtues of loyalty, honor, and courage. Wounded in his final battle, Saigō committed seppuku (ritual suicide), securing his immortality as the “Last True Samurai.” Their legacy is reflected in every plate, every lace of this iconic armor.
This authentic reproduction features a robust ni-mai dō (two-section cuirass) with classic yokohagi (horizontal plating), joined with a pin hinge for flexibility and strength. It is paired with an 8-ken kabuto (eight-plate helmet bowl) for superior battlefield protection, just as worn by the samurai during the last days of the warrior age.
Each suit can be customized to reflect your personal warrior spirit—select your preferred paint finishes, odoshi (lace) colors, kabuto style, menpō (mask), and suneate (shin guards). This armor also proudly commemorates the legacy of the Hokushin Ittō-ryū Hyōhō—one of the last koryū (old schools) that still teaches authentic katchû-bujutsu (armored martial techniques).
Whether for martial arts training, reenactment, or legacy display, this armor set is a tribute to resilience, sacrifice, and unwavering honor.
