Designed by Iron Mountain Armory’s master katchūshi (armorers), this bold helmet combines the streamlined shape and solid construction of classic sanmaibari zunari (single three-plate head-shaped helmets) with a customized menpō (face mask) styled after the iconic Stormtroopers of cinematic fame, which was inspired by the classic Japanese film “The Hidden Fortress”.
This fusion of history and imagination makes the Stormtrooper Kabuto a true conversation piece, ideal for martial artists, reenactors, collectors and fans of samurai and starwars sci-fi alike. The helmet bowl (hachi) is constructed from thick seamless steel. This structure replicates designs widely used by ashigaru (foot soldiers) and samurai during the turbulent Sengoku Jidai, where practical, battle-ready armor was a necessity.
A durable koshimaki (lower plate ring) and curved mabizashi (visor) add reinforcement, while the back is protected by a traditional shikoro (neck guard) crafted from three to five ita (lamellar plates), meticulously laced in sugake odoshi (simple spaced lacing).
