Description
Roar of the Tiger – Armor of a Legendary Daimyo
The Takeda Shingen Samurai Armor is a commanding tribute to the “Tiger of Kai,” one of Japan’s most celebrated and fearsome daimyo. Handcrafted by the senior katchû-shi (Japanese armor smith) of Iron Mountain Armory, this meticulously detailed gusoku (matching armor set) honors the martial spirit and battlefield brilliance of Takeda Shingen during the late Sengoku Period of Feudal Japan.
This impressive armor set features a hari-bachi kabuto (helmet) adorned with authentic yak hair and covered in egawa (embossed leather), symbolizing rugged strength and noble spirit. The okegawa dō (chest armor) and ō-sode (large shoulder shields) are also elegantly layered with matching egawa, blending striking appearance with formidable protection.
The rear of the dō showcases kiritsuke-kozane (simulated narrow scales), hand-laced in the traditional kebiki-odoshi (full lacing) style. Completing the set are robust kote (armored sleeves), protective haidate (armored apron), and a beautifully crafted wood-carved demon maedate (helmet crest) unique to Iron Mountain Armory. Over 150 man-hours are invested into every suit of this style, ensuring it is worthy of Takeda Shingen himself—and any modern warrior who dares to channel his indomitable spirit.
Whether worn in re-enactment, martial arts training, or proudly displayed as a centerpiece, this full-sized, fully functional suit of armor invokes honor, resilience, and ferocity.
