    Select to change, customize or remove the front crest (maedate) on the helmet. You can select a standard brass mon (symbol), your own custom mon / logo or a wooden or brass design.     Taisho Upgrade

The Toppai-Bachi Kabuto is a bold expression of samurai flair, crafted in the Taisho Class – Elite Series by the master katchū-shi (armor smiths) at Iron Mountain Armory. With its striking, egg-shaped silhouette—tapered and pinched to a dramatic peak—this unique kabuto design merges battlefield intimidation with Edo-period elegance.

Originally worn during the Sengoku Jidai (Warring States Period), the toppai bachi (pulled bowl) style gained popularity in the Edo Period, when samurai armor became increasingly expressive. Some variations of this style extended skyward in towering cone-like forms, signifying rank, status, or pure intimidation.

The hachi (helmet bowl) of each Toppai-Bachi Kabuto is hand-forged in a raised, pulled shape, evoking the proud individuality of the samurai who once donned these elegant crests. Each plate of the shikoro (neck guard) is cut, shaped, painted, and hand-laced in your choice of art silk odoshi. A carefully fitted ukebari (helmet lining) ensures both structure and comfort.

This kabuto includes a “ressei-men” style menpō (fierce-faced armored mask), featuring lifelike detailing: kuchi hige (mustache), shiwa (facial wrinkles), mimi (ear guards), odayori ore kugi (posts), and hana (removable nose guard). Every component is fully customizable to match your personal vision or historical preference.

    All these 4 and 5 star reviews are correct. This armory makes some amazing armor at about half the price of what Japan sells them for. Each kabuto and yoroi I have purchased from Iron Mountain Armory has always met my expectations and this latest kabuto exceeded them! Always professional and attentive service / communications too!
