The rabbit has appeared throughout Japanese visual culture and folklore for centuries. One of its most recognizable early appearances can be found in the celebrated Chōjū giga (Scrolls of Frolicking Animals), a group of illustrated scrolls traditionally dated from the twelfth through thirteenth centuries. Within these lively scenes, rabbits are shown moving, competing, wrestling, and acting with humanlike intelligence.

This association with movement and cleverness made the rabbit a natural symbol for warriors who relied upon agility rather than brute force. The rabbit survives because it remains alert. It listens before danger arrives, reacts without hesitation and commits completely once movement becomes necessary.

These are limited addition crests with only 50 crafted.  Each is finished in its wooden form and can left natural or painted to your preference.  Please allow at least 1 to 2 weeks for preparation, painting and shipping of your own rabbit maedate, complete with U bracket on the back which fits most kabuto old and new.
